Another Night Of Little Sleep

Woke up this morning kind of tired. Spend half the night attempting to fall asleep with spastic attacks of uncontrollable coughing. I tried to soothe the coughing with some hot water and honey. This morning as I left the house there was the strongest smell of burnt ashes in the air. Got a test today... and an essay to write. Ooh.. and I think i'm going to be watching Wicked on december 2nd. Jordy bought 20 tickets for the office.

I want to Sleep!!

Its been a couple days without the best sleep. My sleep deprivation is brought on by two events. Being sick is the first and the fire is the second. I've been sick for about a week now. Sadly I failed to find person that transmitted this wretched sickness to me. Cough is my main symptom now.. only to be worse with the fire's ashes. I know I know .. houses are burning down and people are being evacuated, but losing sleep is very hard to deal with. The weather is the other thing, but i believe it to be due to the fire as well. Blah!.. stupid fire.. stupid cough.. stupid fire.. stupid person who spread it to me. Blah!.. I'm also overloaded with HW and test. I blame this all to my Theology of a Christian Life Class. This class is so dull and I struggle to understand the point of what is being taught. God is with me though so I'll stand strong and face the harsh world of college midterm period. Once end of friday comes around life will be honky dory again. Climbing Friday night and then climbing again satruday.. the whole day.. woot woot. I also want to encourage whoever is reading this to pray for those who are suffering and the fire fighters that are working hard to contain the fire.

Apple Valley - The Cemetary

Long Long Saturday. Today was so long. Hiroko, Josh, Steven, Kenton, and I, this week's climbing passe, woke up early and headed out to Apple Valley to have a great time aping around. We pulled into a dirt parking and into view of these beautiful Joshua tree type rock. The climbing there was mostly short but it offered sport climbing on J tree type rock. Josh made an impressive run on 4 routes. He was working on an 10c and this is his only 2nd rope session. Hiroko was impressive as well. I can see that she is getting more comfortable with climbing. Steven Spent much of his time sleeping and we had a new guy named Kenton that tagged along with us. I really stoked to have sent a 5.?. It was originally 5.10d however a hold broke making it much harder so the guide book left it unrated. I believe it to be in the 12a/b range. We finished up the high desert session with lunch at Josh's house it was nice to meet his family. He also has a nice house.

Unexpected Weather

Rain Friday... That was the weather report for Mt Baldy. When we arrived. We noticed snow. 65F high. If it even got that high. Today was the Mt Baldy Trip. I took a group of 8 up. The trip today was great. Me and Hiroko stumbled to school at about 4:30am so I can get some pretrip things done. We waited till 5:20am for the two people who didn't show up and just took off without them. The weather was incredibly cold. I'm guessing around the 40's. As the sun came out we it started to warm up a bit, but as we started to get high it was getting colder. hmm. By the time we were at the ski hut we were hiking through snow. We met a cute old couple at the hut that were there from the night before, we talked a bit about the hut and the sierra club.. and the trail conditions and took off again. As we ascended the west ridge of the Baldy Bowl the winds started to kick up. At first we were just a little cold but as we got high the wind became more fierce. Jordy wearning shorts and a thin shell must have been suffering big time. Though it was extremely, everyones spirits still seemed to be high, so we decided to push foward. We summit about 11 somthing. The summit was a winter hell. Imagine us expecting and dressed for a day hike in warm weather coming across a summit with 60+ mph winds w/ snow.. we had to walk sideways. With in seconds are skin goes numb and a couple of more seconds they started to sting bad. We hurried and took our group photo. With the Wind's blowing hard on us we quickly decended the Devil's Back Bone. The first leg of the ridge was plagued with the same hurricane winds as the summit, but once we dropped off to the south side of the ridge thigns kicked back. Its amazing how different that place was. God is Amazing. I'm aslo so proud of Hiroko Otuska. haha. She truck on like a trooper. There are some pictures below.
