December till now
Jan/11/09 Sunday
It was December, and it was crazy busy. I know, I
have no excuse for being MIA for so long. I’ll try to
do my best to cover what went out through out the
last month and half. Through pictures and some words
arranged. I guess I’ll start chronologically. That
will be the easiest way to visualize the time line.
The first set of pictures starts at Christmas dinner with Communiversity Staff in Little Ethiopia. This little joint was offered a bit of Ethiopia’s culture by providing no utensils. We ate with our hands. Scooping food with this sponge like bread. Sitting around these basket like tables we exchanged Christmas gifts. This was also the last night with Jordy. After dinner we went to the grove to enjoy the sights and farmers market. It was busy. Though it was not yet Christmas, it felt like it was.
The second set of pictures are from Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. For Christmas break we went to Vegas. A week or so before this Hiroko and I went with the Mad Rock crew to Red Rocks to do some climbing. We stayed at a nice resort just outside of Vegas. We didn’t really have time to hang around the city that trip so as a family we decided to go back for Christmas break. We got a reservation at Mandalay Bay. We strolled the strip, ate nice food, and shopped. We took stroll around the red rocks so my family can see where Hiroko and I go climb.
This is the Red Rocks area just west of Vegas.

This year new years was spent mostly at Joshua Tree. Why? Well Mad Rock does a sale outside the park and I had to work it. Though it was fun to be out of the office it was very tiring. Waking up, then pulling out a whole lot of inventory and setting up a booth can be pretty taxing on the body. Pretty much I would stay in Joshua Tree for two days and head home and drive back the next morning. Which means I drove to and from Joshua Tree 3 times. The drive no longer feels very long. While in Joshua Tree I was able to get some climbing in. Attempted All Washed Up but failed. I’ll be back to finish it. I also had the chance to go off-roading on the Geology tour road all the way to Cochella. Found some random canyon and went shooting.. it was fun. Hiroko had time off so she came and stayed with me.

These next set of photos are the most recent. They happened yesterday. Me and Marty went to Hanger 18 ABS Regional Comp. This was the first time I saw so many big name climbers competing. I can tell you it was a sight. There is a difference between strong climbers and pro climbers. There were climbers like Daniel Woods, Ethan Pringle, Matt Siegal, and Natasha Barnes. We had a booth set up to sell goods and to talk to people about our products. Though sales was not great we were able to meet lots of people and build relationships. I also had time to meet Gina and Frank from Voodoo again. They are so nice and their products are so pretty/cool/cute. No wonder why they sell well.

This month is not yet over, so there is much to come. Hiroko is currently in Japan visiting family and friends. It has only been a day or so, but I’m missing her already. Good thing she’ll be back on Wednesday. However, I know she hopes her stay was longer. We will also be heading to Salt Lake City, Utah for Winter OR. School is also going to start soon so trips will be running again. So lots and lots coming up.
almost forgot. We got a super 73” TV now. Dang its big.. I’ll have to post a picture of hiroko standing in front of it. We got the PS3 to compliment it. Now I spend to much time in front of it. Even as I work on this site I’m watching it. Dane Cook @ Madison Square Garden.
Time for bed... Peace out
