Cover to Cover Day 1 & 2
Apr/15/10 Thursday
Yesterday I started to read the bible from cover to
cover. NIV version. Starting from the beginning in
Genesis to the last book in Revelations. My goal is
to read the bible everyday from yesterday till the
day I finish. I also plan blog about the thought of
each days reading. This hopefully will help me
reflect on the reading as well as give me a good
record about my progress.
Day 1 Genesis 1-4
If you are a Christian you’ve likely read the first few chapters before you start loosing the focus and drive to read further. It talks about creation and then a bit about Adam and Eve’s downfall and decedents. The only thing I kept on thinking about is where do all these wives come from? I understand eve, but what about Caine’s wife and the wives of their children. Wouldn’t this technically be considered incest? Another thing that I thought was interesting is that even though Adam and Eve were banished from the garden and punished for eating the fruit on the tree they were still well taken care of by God. Very much like a parent spanking his child but continuing to love them completely.
Day 2 Genesis 5- 9
Starting in Chapter 5 there is a long list of linage from Adam to Noah. Something worth noting is that most people on this list lived over 900 years before passing. However in Chapter 6 Lord said “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal, his days will be a hundred and twenty years. This like setting an expiration date on your life. What is amazing, is that with the exception of only 1 person (122 years old) everyone else in history is at or below 120 years of old when death finally came. The rest of the chapters are about the flood and his sons. I think one interesting section starts at Genesis 9:20. It talks about Noah cursing Hams’s (Noah’s youngest child) child, Cannan, for something that Ham did. Though the bible doesn’t go into detail there is much speculation about it. Theories range from homosexual acts to castration. There is just enough information to get you to ask question but not enough to solve this mystery.

Midnight Adventure
Apr/09/10 Friday
This last weekend Hiroko and I went on a trip to
owen’s river gorge with Paul and Cecilia. The
original plan was to get some camping and climbing in
at holcomb, but after a phone call to the forestry
station I found out that the chances of us getting
stuck in very bad mud was near 100%. I decided that
paying $1000 plus to get towed out was not the most
exciting weekend so I changed it to owen river gorge.
The plan was to drive down and camp at ORG’s BLM
land. We didn’t get in to the area until 12am
saturday. I missed the gorge rd pull out and decided
to drive to June Lake Junction instead and camp at
Bachar Boulders. When we got there it was slightly
snowing. I drove towards the dirt roads and realized
to late that it was snow instead of dirt. Got stuck
for the next hour. Luckily we had a HP find us. They
help Lee Vining Towing find us. They pulled us out.
Luckily for us we were by the road side and had AAA.
If not I don’t know how much it would have cost over
free (actually club membership cost). By this time it
was 3am. Without letting this unfortunate series of
events bring out spirits down we drove down to the
BLM land and camped where we originally planned.
